Bye Bye Korn…

Before

After

Though I didn’t like you that much, I didn’t mind listening to your music occassionally. But like Linkin Park, you have betrayed the community of rock by teaming up with hip-hop artists like Snoop Dogg and LL Cool J. I refuse to allow your poster to be on my wall from now on. Will donate it to viggi most probably. By the way, I need some good poster to fill up the blank space on the wall. Don’t get any posters in Nagpur so will search for some when I get home.

Why I hate shitty Nu-Metal bands..

Firstly, I am not insulting the taste of other people. Other people may like these bands and that’s fine with me. This post is about why I hate these bands(Linkin Park, Lost prophets, POD, Papa Roach, Saliva and many more..)

  1. Too much distortion:- They rarely ever play clean and it pisses me off. For me, a good song is a one with a good balance between distortion and clean. Too much distortion is just noise.
  2. No guitar solos:- These bands rarely have any solos in their songs. And not too much lead either. Only power chords with full distortion. What happened to maiden style solos??
  3. Not much talent:- Take Linkin Park for example. Their live concerts suck. You can’t even hear the guitar. And to top it off, they sell their live in Texas video with the audio of the original songs mixed with the video of the concert which makes it look like they are playing perfectly.
  4. Tie-up with hip-hoppers:- You sing with hip-hoppers and you call yourselves rock bands? You are blemishes on the name of Rock. Go to hell and die LP!!
  5. Plagiarism:- You steal the music from older songs or just remix them and insult the songs. One of the best selling songs of Papa Roach is “Between Angels and Insects”. Little do people know that the music is exactly same as that of Prowler by Maiden.
  6. The rickshaw pullers here play “In the end” on their decks.
  7. Your songs simply suck!!!

It’s sad to see that people call themselves rock fans and listen to bands like the ones listed above but have never heard of Iron Maiden, GnR, Pantera, Oasis, Eagles(except Hotel California) etc.. Real rock and it’s patrons are dwindling away, slowly being replaced by Nu-Metal fans which is really depressing 🙁

Great day!

What a busy day!! Woke up at 8 in the morning to go to college as we had participated in an event called “Who dares wins”. The events were less daring and more physically consuming. We had to run to far ends of the college on a treasure hunt. Then we had to carry one of our team members around a field(I was clutching my chest for half an hour after this). Then I had to do 10 push-ups(ridiculously easy)on a concrete pathway which had been baking under the sun for the past many hours(My hands are still raw!!). Anyways, we had the war of the bands in the evening. Got dressed and headed off for college. The next 6 hours are a blur. Intense headbanging, jumping has left me feeling tired and consumed. It was a wierd sight. Four of us headbanging on metallica while the rest of the crowd stood still and stared at us. Anyways, I realised that it’s so much more fun being in the crowd than playing on stage. Our college band came in second and one band “Rust” completely fucked up. The vocalist was shitty and ruined the whole show. Another downside was the locals and biharis shouting for hindi and bhojpuri songs. Anyways, the principal happy as usual after recieving his customary gift of a bottle of whiskey happily declared a holiday for tomorrow so will wake up late afternoon.

Jam, Jam and some more Jam..

Today me and Neeraj met up at the Pratap Nagar CCD and decided to jam out. We got his dilapidated GIVSON from his place and headed out to mine. For more than 5 hours, all we did was wear our fingers out. I was on the lead and he was playing the chords. We played numerous Bryan Adams songs, Eagles(Hotel California, Tequila Sunrise), GNR, Metallica (One, Nothing else matters), Pink Floyd(Another Brick in the Wall, Wish you were here), AC/DC(on acoustic!!!), Scorpions, Nirvana and many more. We discovered that my plucking and his strumming perfectly complemented each other. Is this the beginning of a band?? Maybe.. What we need now is someone on the drums, someone on the bass and some singer.. The first 2 are really hard to find and the few of these that we have seen are much more talented to play with us. So next weekend again, we are gonna let the beer and the music flow.(I hope that the avian flu hadn’t arrived as we could also have enjoyed the taste of Tandoori Chicken) Beer, music and chicken are the clues to the secret of having a great evening!!

Bryan!!! You rock!!!

On the 4th, I had the most fun I ever had in my life. It was my first live concert by an international artist. I was there almost 2 hours before the concert and even then found a long queue. The concert was opened by the Superfuzz Bigmuffs who were excellent but didn’t quite please the crowd because they were playing originals. Anyways, Bryan just ROCKED!!!! He played all the good songs and really sent the crowd into a frenzy. After the concert, my whole body was paining and my throat was sore. Anyways, gotta go now, will post soon..

I hate you Black Eyed Piss!!

When a year or so ago, I heard the song “Where is the love” by the Black Eyed Peas, I immediately fell in love with it. “Here’s a hip hop band with good songs”, I said, even though I didn’t fancy the other songs. Recently, I was sitting in front of the TV, surfing channels frantically. As I passed through VH1, I saw the Black Eyed Peas on stage about to perform for some awards(I don’t remember which). So the girl announces, “Now we are gonna play our latest songs – My Humps”. What??????? Did I hear right?? My HUMPS???? Open mouthed, I watched them perform this song. Was something wrong with my hearing or were they really singing these lyrics???
What you gon’ do with all that junk? All that junk inside your trunk?
I’ma get, get, get, get, you drunk,Get you love drunk off my hump.
My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump,
My hump, my hump, my hump, my lovely little lumps. (Check it out)
Some other examples of the explicit lyrics sung by the girl with a provocative swaying of her hips are:-
They say I’m really sexy, The boys they wanna sex me.
They always standing next to me, Always dancing next to me,
Tryin’ a feel my hump, hump.
Lookin’ at my lump, lump.U can look but you can’t touch it,
If you touch it I’ma start some drama,You don’t want no drama,
No, no drama, no, no, no, no drama
So don’t pull on my hand boy,You ain’t my man, boy,
I’m just tryn’a dance boy,And move my hump.
As the song finished, I sat dejected on how the quality of what they call “MUSIC” has degraded severely. They call this darned thing music???? Lyrics seem to be written by a frustrated 12 year old girl. There’s no music to speak of and they call this music. And they even have the nerve to perform these songs on stage. This got me thinking about the trend international music is going these days. Almost any music channel you switch to, you just find hip-hop songs, all promoting the use of drugs, guns and public sex. Even the rock bands are turning hip-hop(Linkin Park-I hate Jay-Z). Same with Indian music.
I am seriously disappointed by the music of today because of which I have to wait for months for a good album to come out. (See Rolling Stones-Rain Fall down)
